Why the hell are all these people on strike?

Lots of strikes going on write now in the streets of NY and LA.  Though I am not too sure of the validity of the Broadway stagehands' strike, I do think that the WGA writers have a good reason to strike; they should be compensated for their work published online.  Here's a great YouTube video created by the writers of the Daily Show:

We're headed to Geektown today. Don't tell me you don't love it.

Check out this great video montage of all the most famous viral videos from the past few years.  It's long, but really worth watching.

Fantastic short film

It's called Transit, directed by Kerry Weldon, Administrative Director of the NewFest.  It's a great little story.  I love the way it was edited, and for a film with no dialogue, the acting is quite good.  I think I love it so much also because I can appreciate the anonymous interactions we all have riding the NYC subways everyday.

Every few months Kerry hosts the OutProfessionals/LYNX Filmmakers Brunch Series which sets to spark dialogue on the "issues related to our representation on film by lesbian underground filmmakers, as well as by media-makers in the mainstream."  Next one is November 4th.

Stop motion cereal

Stop_motion_cereal
A very simple TV spot for Kellogg's cereal, shot and edited by Head Gear Animation in Toronto, Canada for Leo Burnett.  The concept and execution are elegant and the track is great too.

I love stop motion!

I never understood why people liked Neil Diamond

...until now

This was his performance in "The Last Waltz" directed by Martin Scorsese about The Band's farewell concert filmed in 1976, released in 1978.  I thought the movie was interesting and very well shot and directed, but I couldn't really get into The Band itself.  Luckily the concert is chock full of amazing guest performers including Joni Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Bob Dylan, The Staple Singers, Eric Clapton, Ronnie Hawkins...

Here is Joni's performance; I think she's just simply amazing. She's one of my favorite singer/songwriters of all time.
